The New York Historical Fencing Association (NYHFA) is a school of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) with locations in New York City and the Hudson Valley (Poughkeepsie and Delhi). We teach the Kunst des Fechtens (arts of fighting) of the 14th century German master Johannes Liechtenauer.
NYHFA's NYC branch holds classes at 1:00PM on Sundays in the Sea Gate Community Center at 3716 Surf Ave.
The Delhi, NY branch holds Sunday classes at The Cardio Club 1:00 - 3:00PM.
NYHFA's Poughkeepsie branch holds weeknight classes on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 - 7:30PM.
We have a new study group in San Diego. Information can be found on their facebook page: San Diego Historical Fencing Association.
Those interested in membership or who just want to watch a class can contact us using the email provided below.
Class times, locations and schedule changes are posted on the NYHFA Blog.
Enrollment is open to anyone with sufficient interest and dedication (this is a martial art and requires hard work and discipline). We also offer group seminars, private lessons and demonstrations.
